Frequently Asked Questions — ASF Jobs

Q: Is there a height relaxation for ASF?

Minor height relaxation (up to 1 inch) may be granted for candidates from certain regions (FATA, GB, AJK) at the discretion of the Selection Board. Standard height requirements are 5'6"/5'7" for males and 5'2"/5'3" for females depending on the post.

Q: Can women join ASF?

Yes — ASF actively recruits female officers and staff. Female ASF personnel perform passenger screening duties (female passengers must be screened by female staff under ICAO rules), VIP protocol duties, and administrative roles. Female Assistant Directors can rise to Director and above through merit-based promotions.

Q: Does ASF have its own pension scheme?

ASF employees are federal government employees and are entitled to the standard government pension under the Pension Rules 1954. After completing qualifying service (25 years minimum for full pension), they receive 70% of last basic pay as monthly pension for life.

Q: What is the transfer policy in ASF?

ASF officers and staff are transferable to any airport in Pakistan. Transfers are typically on a 2–3 year rotation basis, though operational requirements may extend or shorten postings. Transfers to major airports (Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad) are generally more competitive due to better facilities.

Q: Can ASF employees take up private security work on the side?

No — like all federal government employees, ASF personnel are barred from private employment, business activities, or any work that could conflict with their official duties under the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules 1964.

Q: What are the chances of promotion from Corporal to Inspector?

Promotion from Corporal (BPS-7) through the enlisted ranks requires qualifying service (typically 4–6 years per grade), satisfactory performance reports (ACRs/PERs), and passing departmental examinations. A motivated Corporal can realistically reach Inspector (BPS-16) in 15–18 years of service with good performance and no adverse entries.
